Sayed Rahman is an industrial technology consultant with more than 25 years of experience in managing large scale government level projects.
Former Chief Technology Officer of Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, also popularly known as SEWA, a government utility in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates which provides electricity, water and natural gas to approximately 1.8 million residents.
Sayed has planned, supervised and managed large projects directly related with operational excellence in the supply of electricity, water and natural gas to a geographical area covering 2,600 square kilometers.
An MBA from the prestigious Jaipur National University, Sayed is passionate about using Smart City Technologies to facilitate sustainable generation, transmission, distribution of power, electricity and gas.
Sayed has also been part of Sharjah's initiatives on decarbonizing the UAE economy by switching to cleaner fuels and adopting renewable energy, in line with the Paris agreement tackling climate change.
As part of the sustainability mandate, he has played a CTOs role in energy efficiency drives such as retrofitting buildings in the city of Sharjah which showed a drop of 25-30% of the annual energy consumption in buildings.
A digital transformation advocate and proponent of using AI to showcase carbon emission levels to each consumer in the city, he has championed many projects which enabled reduction in wastage of natural resources, as well as eradicated the usage of paper for the purpose of energy billing.
